CIPR PR award win

Nottingham-based communications consultant Jonathan Cross has been named as the CIPR 2010 public relations Freelancer of the Year for the Midlands. Jonathan, who runs the PR business People, Words and Pictures, picked up the honour at a black tie awards ceremony held at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole Hotel on Friday 3 December.

The awards are organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) with the freelancer category being sponsored by national recruitment agency Xchangeteam. Jonathan is a former local and national newspaper journalist and in-house PR director who set up his freelance business in 2008. His clients include small to medium sized businesses and voluntary sector and public sector organisations including the NHS. His services include copywriting, media relations, branding, corporate communications, crisis PR and strategic public relations.

One of only a handful of chartered PR practitioners in the country, Jonathan said: “It’s a great honour to be named as the Midlands PR Freelancer of the Year and I’d like to thank all the businesses and public sector organisations which provided testimonials in support of my work for the award.”

Cara Hastings, Chair of CIPR Midlands, said: “The CIPR PRide Awards recognise and reward the thriving PR profession from across the UK. They help to celebrate the importance of demonstrating the value of what we, as public relations professionals, do and the positive impact this profession has on all aspects of business. Being named as a CIPR PRide Award winner is a fantastic achievement and I congratulate all of this year’s winners.”
